Mulaku Atoll or Meemu is only recently opened for tourism and therefore still in its exploring phase of finding some of the best dive sites in the Maldives. This almost 20 to 30km square atoll has a great outside barrier reef but also many interesting pinnacles/thilas inside its blue lagoon. It is located on the southern end of the eastern chain of Maldivian atolls, just south of Vaavu. Some of the larger islands are Veyvah, Boli Mulah and Kolhufushi. Other islands include Dhiggaru, Maduvvari, Muli, Naalaafushi and Thuvaru. There are 34 islands to be found in this atoll with only 9 locally inhabited and two transformed into the resort islands Medhufushi Island Resort and Hakuraa Island Resort. It is one of the most secluded places in the world and therefore guaranteed for some of the most exciting underwater sights divers have ever experienced.
